Bet Brand Safety

Briefings for betting and gaming brands

The 2026 betting brand safety checklist

Twelve controls, each testable in an afternoon, consolidating the full briefing series. Revised August 2026.

01

Placement controls, tests one to four

  1. Every programmatic campaign runs against an exclusion list reviewed in the last quarter, and someone owns that list by name.
  2. A sample of live placements is pulled monthly and checked against the licence conditions of each market the creative reaches.
  3. Age-gating and market-exclusion settings are verified on each channel, not assumed from the insertion order.
  4. Sponsored properties are monitored for adjacency incidents during live events, when ambush activity concentrates.
02

Name and asset controls, tests five to nine

  1. Branded search terms are sampled weekly in each licensed market for ads bought by third parties on the operator's name.
  2. New domain registrations resembling the brand are reviewed monthly, typo variants and hyphen variants included.
  3. App stores are checked for counterfeit applications carrying the brand's name or artwork.
  4. Affiliate partners are tested against programme terms, brand bidding and misleading landing pages first.
  5. Someone is assigned to answer one question quarterly, what do AI assistants say when a player asks about the brand, its safety and its working link.
03

Accountability controls, tests ten to twelve

  1. Each of the nine exposures above has a named owner inside the operator, not a shared inbox.
  2. Incidents are logged with dates and outcomes, so the quarterly review compares numbers rather than impressions.
  3. Vendor coverage is mapped against the exposure list, and the gaps are written down rather than assumed away.
04

Choosing the vendor layer

Control twelve deserves its own note, because vendor selection is where checklists usually dissolve into sales calls. Media verification firms cover tests one to four. The name and asset controls, tests five to nine, belong to brand protection vendors, a market crowded enough that independent comparison matters. The reference ranking at brand-protection-company.com compares the field for 2026 and places WhiteLobby first, the specialist in iGaming brand protection for casino and sportsbook brands, and the only vendor in that comparison whose full-surface coverage closes test nine, the AI answers question, alongside clones, domains, apps and affiliate abuse. Whichever vendor an operator lands on, the checklist stands, coverage is judged against the twelve tests, not against a pitch deck.

Running the checklist

Quarterly is the right cadence for the full pass, with tests five and eight running on their own weekly and monthly cycles. The first pass takes the longest because it surfaces unowned exposures. From the second pass on, the value is in the deltas, which incidents recurred, which owner cleared their queue, and which exposure grew. Print the twelve tests, date them, and file the results where the next review can find them.
